So. You think this site's boring, eh?
It's true, I admit it, mea culpa: this is a graphically boring site
You see, I believe that words have a unique power all their own and have constructed this site in accordance with ... pssssssttt! They're not buying it, dude!
OK, how about this: When you need information, you need it fast. That's the goal here. If that precludes gorgeous graphics, sound, animation, virtual 3D reality and all the other eye- and mind-candy, then so be it.
Instead, here are some links to some mind- and eye-boggling sites (and a few plain but useful ones). Enjoy!
- My friend Mark Schlachter has a wider and weirder than usual space between his ears. That leaves plenty of room for fantasy to flourish, and that it does. I offer as evidence his phauxtodocumentary on the people, lives and times of Grindle, Indiana, home of the Ersatz & Moot Point Railway Company. Download it (7 mb or so worth, you've been warned) here
- Rich Zaleski Lotus WordPro? Corel Draw? Bass fishing? This guy is good. Really, really good.
- Barb McMillen's Site For Sore Eyes is innovative, literate, cutting edge ... this may be what the Web is all about. Unless it's about something else very much like this.
- Looking for a good left-coast PC and Mac-fluent service bureau to do your imagesetter work? Mac Townsend of AdCom Graphics is your boy.
- And, yes, we do have a few graphics, even here. There's a weirder, gentler section of this site (Actually, it's leftover WebChristmasCards and birthday party miscelleny. But if you just have to see what Steve (and Helen and Aiko and Kaboodle and Mochi) look like, this is it. Since the photos were taken, Helen and Aiko have gotten wiser and the cats have gotten prettier. Or maybe it was the other way around. Steve hasn't improved any.
