Sometimes the simplest way to capture all the animations and sounds in a presentation is to make a movie of it, then distribute the movie rather than the PowerPoint presentation itself.

Programs like Camtasia and Hypercam can capture screen activity and save it to one or more movie formats.

Camtasia from TechSmith is a flexible screen recorder and video production tool that can record anything on the Windows desktop and produce AVI, Flash and other file formats. A fully functional evaluation version of Camtasia is available here. Camtasia Studio allows you to edit, annotate and add sound effects to your recorded files.

PowerPoint MVP TAJ Simmons' PowerPoint to Video Tutorial describes the fine points of capturing movies from PowerPoint presentations using Camtasia.

There's a tutorial at InDezine.

And from Jim Gordon, Mac Office MVP:
"The Mac utility I think works best is SnapZPro"
