"\\Server\Share does not have enough free space" error when using Pack and Go

Using PowerPoint 2002, you try to Pack and Go a presentation that's located on a network share or in a redirected folder and the path name of the network share or of the redirected folder is longer than 31 characters and get the error message "\\Server\Share does not have enough free space. Please make sure there are nn Kb of free space and try again

MS has a Post-SP3 hotfix for Office 2002 that fixes this problem.

This article on KBALERTZ.COM quotes the original MS article on the subject; for some reason, we can't get the original to appear in google searches.
