How to install PPTools and demos

Once you've downloaded any of the PPTools, you need to install it.

Installing under Windows XP or previous

  1. Start PowerPoint.
  2. From the main menu bar, choose Tools, Macro, Security.
  3. Click the "Security Level" tab and choose Medium or Low.
  4. Click the "Trusted Sources" tab and put a check next to "Trust all installed add-ins and templates". Click OK.
  5. Quit PowerPoint.
  6. Run the EXE file you downloaded.
  7. If you've never installed any PPTools before, choose any folder to install the PPTool into. We recommend that you accept the default folder suggested by the installer.
  8. Don't remember where you installed PPTools originally?
  9. When you re-start PowerPoint, your new PPTool will be installed and ready to use
  10. Go back to the Tools, Macro, Security dialog box and set the Security Level back to Medium or higher.

Installing under Windows Vista

Installing under Office 2007

Like Vista, Office 2007 requires a few more steps. This explains more: What about PowerPoint 2007 / Office 2007?

Please don't improvise your own "improved" installation procedures.

This won't work. It will make messes.
