Setup: Acrobat 5
We've had good results with this setup, even with A4 page sizes on US/English Acrobat 5/Windows/PowerPoint using Acrobat 5 to create our PDFs.
First, set up the Adobe Acrobat Distiller Printer Driver.
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Printers
- Rightclick the Acrobat Distiller printer icon and choose Printing Preferences (or choose Properties, then click "Printing Preferences" on the General tab)
- Click Portrait then click Advanced...
- In Advanced Options, choose "Letter" as the Paper Size, then click OK to close Advanced Options and return to Printing Preferences.
- Click the Adobe PDF Settings tab
- Click Edit Conversion Settings
- Underneath "Default Page Size" on the General tab, choose:
- Units: Points
- width: 612
- height: 792
- If necessary, save these settings as a new set of Job Options then close the Edit Conversion Settings dialog box
- We also recommend that you put checkmarks next to "View Result in Acrobat" and "Prompt for PDF filename". This will allow you to specify what folder the PDF gets created in and force it to open automatically in Acrobat when it's ready.
- Click OK to close Printing Preferences and if necessary click OK to close Properties also
- From the main menu bar, choose PPTools, RnR Prep4PDF, Prep4PDF Prefs
- Click the Printer/Page Setup tab of the Prep4PDF Prefences dialog box
- In the "Use this printer driver ..." dropdown list box, choose the Acrobat Distiller printer
- Ignore the "Printer and Distiller page size" text boxes - it's ok if they're blank
- Put a checkmark next to "Crop to PowerPoint Slide"
- Make sure there's no check next to "Print with Fit To Page"
- Click OK
