If your problem involves messages about DOCBOX.API, quit Acrobat.

Then use Windows Explorer to search for the DOCBOX.API file and delete it.

You may want to check for an update at adobe.com if you use a version of Windows later than Windows 95.

As I understand it, even updated versions of DOCBOX.API will not work under Windows 95 (and Windows 95 is not listed as one of the supported operating systems on the Acrobat 5 box)
