Office Patches (Service Releases, Service Packs, SR-x, SP-x)

First: do you need a patch? The following info is courtesy of MVP Bob Buckland.
Rumor has it that even Gates calls Bob when he needs to know this stuff.

You can visit the MS AutoDetect site for Office 2000 and Office XP to have it tell you which
updates are available here

Office 2000 Updates

Office 2000 SR-1a

Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3)

There was also an SP2 update available for Office. Before installing it or any later Office 2000 service packs, if you're running Outlook, check this information at Slipstick.com

The Office 2000 SP2 update is not required to install the later SP3 Service Pack, but SR1 does need to be showing in "Help=>About" in any Office 2000 app before you can install ones later than SR1a.

Try this link to request a free Office 2000 SR-1 update CD or purchase a complete Office 2000/SR-1 CD set for the cost of shipping and handling.

Another (and probably more recent) link for ordering updates

This Microsoft.com page has info on installing service releases for Office 97 and a wealth of other good install info.

The Office 97 SR-1 update is available here

The Office 97 SR-2b update is available here
