Fuzzy or low quality preview pictures / thumbnails

Problem

The preview or "thumbnail" image you see in the File Open dialog box or when you view your files as thumbnails in Windows Explorer is of poor quality when you view PPT and PPS files created by PowerPoint 2002 and later. Files saved from PPT 2000 look much better.

Solution

This Microsoft technical bulletin describes the problem and suggests a registry entry that will fix it.
