PPT 2007: Text jumbled up, bullet and text effects galleries blank or corrupted
Problem
Text on slides is "jumbled" together. It all stacks up letter on top of letter.
The thumbnails in the text effects galleries are blank or corrupted.
The bullets and numbering gallery thumbnails are blank or corrupted.
Only a few fonts are listed in the Fonts dropdown.
Solution
PowerPoint depends heavily upon the current default printer driver for a lot of the information it needs to format text and to display examples in the galleries.
If your default printer driver isn't adequate or if you have no default driver installed, you'll run into the behaviour described above.
