PowerPoint 2010 won't print Black & White; prints grayscale instead

Problem

When you print from PowerPoint 2010 and select "Pure Black and White" in the print dialog box, PowerPoint prints in grayscale or color instead of Pure Black and White.

This occurs in both the original release of PowerPoint 2010 and after you've applied SP1 (Service Pack 1).

Solution

Microsoft has a Hotfix that's intended to solve this problem.

As a workaround, you can try saving as PDF and printing the PDF or printing to the Microsoft XPS driver and printing from the XPS viewer.
